The school council meet fortnightly to talk about ways to improve our school and share ideas. Each class from Year 3 - Year 6 has 2 school representatives who lead discussions, to ensure that every child in school is able to contribute ideas, to make Lowerhouse Junior School the best it can be! Got a question? Speak to your class representative or write it down in your classroom.
Each member of our School Council has an important role to play. The children take full responsibility for leading our meetings as well as feeding back to the rest of their class. We work closely with the senior leaders of Lowerhouse Junior School and with the governors, to suggest improvements and share our good news with them.
The school council works to make improvements to the school and the way we do things at Lowerhouse Junior School. We look around for things that could be better and discuss what to do. Everyone gets a chance to speak and when we’ve finished we vote on the best ideas and then start working on changing things. Sometimes we will have to talk to Mr Lloyd, Mrs Marsden or other teachers, and sometimes we will have to make phone calls to people outside of school.
At Lowerhouse Junior School, we aim to be a good and effective School Council by listening to the children in our school, representing their views and getting things done! We will do this by holding regular meetings and being responsible for carrying out the ideas that have been agreed and planned. We will also communicate our ideas and plans effectively between the Governors, the SLT, the staff and the pupils.
