    Mission Statement

    Our mission is to provide high-quality education in a safe and respectful environment that builds life skills and a foundation for lifelong learning.

    School Motto

    Inspiring a lifelong love for learning.

    Vision

    At Lowerhouse Juniors, our children are the future. Our vision is to create endless possibilities, support and encouragement inspiring a life long love for learning and promoting academic and personal excellence. We aim to nurture happy, confident, well-rounded and accomplished children and to equip them with the skills and aspirations needed to become successful citizens in an ever-changing world.

    Raising children’s self-esteem is key to supporting good behaviour and high achievements and at Lowerhouse Junior School, we use positive language, specific praise and a variety of reward systems to do so. We also ensure children are challenged, allowing them to overcome obstacles and see themselves being successful.

    The intent of Lowerhouse Junior School is for every member of the school community to feel valued and respected by promoting an environment where safeguarding permeates every aspect of school life and all feel happy and secure – every child has the right to feel safe, valued and respected and learn free from the disruption of others.

    Lowerhouse Junior School's Values

    We are a caring community, whose values are built on mutual trust and respect. We firmly believe that every member of our school community has a responsibility to teach pupils socially appropriate behaviour and to embody our school values every day. At Lowerhouse Juniors, we have a clear set of values by which we live:

    Aspiration

    The hope or ambition of achieving something; aiming to be the best that we can be.

    Aspiration can be seen when we:

    - have high expectations of ourselves and others in everything;

    - have achievable goals that are reviewed regularly;

    - have confidence to believe in ourselves;

    - are proud and congratulate ourselves when we do something well in addition to feeling satisfaction from external rewards;

    - show long term as well as short-term thinking and planning.

    Integrity

    Honest, fair and a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values. Do the right thing in a reliable way.

    We can demonstrate integrity by ensuring that we:

    - are open, honest and truthful;

    - accept our mistakes;

    - keep our word;

    - keep our commitments;

    - pay attention to our environment;

    - stay focused;

    - take responsibility;

    - show respect.

    Resilience

    The capacity to recover quickly from difficulties and to develop strategies to overcome challenge.

    We can demonstrate resilience by ensuring that we:

    - persevere;

    - are flexible; -

    stop, think, act;

    - review, reflect and try again;

    - have the ability to bounce back;

    - embrace change;

    - can be both independent and work with others;

    - understand that success comes from continued effort and hard work;

    - accept that there are some things that we can’t do … yet!

    Respect

    Regard for the feelings, wishes, beliefs and rights of others. Regard for the world around us and everything in it.

    We can demonstrate respect by ensuring that we:

    - follow school and other rules and expectations;

    - attend school on time every day, presented well and with all the equipment that we need;

    - value others’ thoughts, feelings and opinions even if they are different from our own;

    - think before we speak;

    - listen actively when others are speaking;

    - treat everyone as equal;

    - work with others collaboratively and co-operatively;

    - have regard for everyone and everything around us in our school, local and wider community.

    These values are embedded in our curriculum, in our daily interactions and are taught discretely through weekly assemblies. Our behaviour curriculum is based on these values, ensuring they become firmly rooted in our whole school ethos and culture.

    British Values

    We believe that promoting British Values is key to preparing our children for life in modern Britain. The spiritual, social, moral and cultural development of pupils is taught and promoted through our curriculum, our behaviour curriculum, themed weeks and specific events. At Lowerhouse Junior School, we also promote British Values through a weekly assembly which is devoted to this area of children’s development.
